Welcome to Cedar Cove, Washington, a scenic little nook a ferry ride from Seattle. In Cedar Cove, everyone knows everyone else’s business; it is a place that is always home for those who never left, and for those who return. 16 Lighthouse Road is where Judge Olivia Lockhart resides; Cedar Cove has been her home for her whole life and she takes pride in her community. When a young couple comes into her court seeking a divorce, Olivia looks upon them and is inspired to make a decision that ultimately changes her own life. 16 Lighthouse Road is the first book in Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series. She introduced us to not only one couple who resides in the picturesque community, but she took the time to introduce us to the community as a whole. Ms Macomber made the town and community of Cedar Cove a separate character, and I was charmed to visit and I am eager to return and stay at 204 Rosewood Lane, the second book in the Cedar Cove series. 16 Lighthouse Road is definitely an introductory look into the lives of these characters. As readers, we get glimpses into each of their lives and these glimpses are enough to bond this reader to the town and its residents. Even though this was my first time reading Debbie Macomber, I felt instantly a kin to her writing and the story. When reading an author for the first time it can be difficult for me to agree with the flow of the writing, but reading 16 Lighthouse Road was instant gratification. Macomber has a distinct talent of drawing you into her world with ease and I am eager to get to know each of the characters more fully in the upcoming stories in this series. Reviewed by Merry |
