Bounty hunter Quinn Rafferty doesn’t let many people get close to him. In fact, his twin brother, Luke, and his landlady, Theresa, are perhaps the only true friends he has. However, something about Sara Davis makes Quinn want to get to know her more, even as his senses warn that something is amiss. Sara is hiding from someone, but will her past prevent any future with Quinn? Just what secrets is Sara hiding?
BROKEN is connected to FRAGILE, which details the story of Quinn’s twin brother. It is not necessary to read FRAGILE to appreciate BROKEN as Shiloh Walker provides all the necessary back story to enjoy BROKEN as a stand alone. However, I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to read both of these phenomenal books!
Quinn is a haunted hero with a disturbing past. The brief glimpse Shiloh Walker gives into his childhood is enough to make me cry for the abuse he suffered. It’s easy to understand why he has built walls to keep others out, and it makes his emotional anguish all the more realistic. Sara, on the other hand, is somewhat of an enigma until the end as Quinn struggles to understand the contradictions he sees in her character. Shiloh Walker does a great job at making the twists and turns both believable and suspenseful.
BROKEN is yet another intensely emotional and deeply satisfying read from the very talented Shiloh Walker. I can’t recommend her books highly enough as she combines great storytelling with multidimensional characters to create books that are memorable long after the last page is turned. Highly recommended!
