In Karen Marie Moning’s third Fever thriller (after BLOODFEVER), the story continues around MacKayla “Mac”  Lane’s ongoing hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a black magic book more than a million years old.  The tension is higher; the odds of good overcoming evil are falling off as the wall between the faery and human worlds is in imminent danger of disintegrating.  Mac’s purpose in staying in Dublin was originally for revenge on the Unseelie Lord Master – to avenge the death of her sister Alina, but now Mac is playing a major part with the fate of the world as we know it resting in her hands.  Ever since discovering her life was a lie, that she was adopted, Mac is now a major player in the war between the Seelie (good Fae) and Unseelie (bad Fae).  Mac has learned she’s a Celtic Sidhe-seeker who can sniff out OOPS (Objects of Power).  Meanwhile, the attractive V’Lane, a death-by-sex Fae, wants Mac’s help in securing the Sinsar Dubh for his Seelie queen, Aoibheal.   So does her enigmatic boss Jericho Barron and he and V’Lane do not get along.   Who can Mac trust, and in this volume has Barron betrayed her in the worst possible way?

*** So far this has been a phenomenal series by KMM and FAEFEVER the third book after DARKFEVER (#1) and BLOODFEVER (#2) takes our heroine, MacKayla Lane, to some very dark places.  The once ditzy Georgia Peach MacKayla who once thought her biggest decision was what shade of pink to paint her nails, has been forced to leave those lazy days of Ashford, Georgia behind and grow up – in a hurry.  So far, I have read each book in the series, and would suggest they be read in consecutive order to really get a feel for where Mac has come from and how events have molded her growth.  Luckily for myself, I didn’t start this series until a few years after the beginning so I didn’t have to wait very long in between books to continue the adventure.  (Thank goodness!)  I highly suggest you gather all the books together and read them one after the other – because this series rocks and is highly addictive!!!

KMM has a surefire winner with each book answering some questions and raising new ones.  Even as the series gets darker and darker, there are still episodes that will make you chuckle (especially the dialogs between Mac, V’lane and Barrons) and each ends with something of a cliffhanger.  There have been new characters introduced, with Mac learning more and more about her own powers as a Sidhe seer and also discovering more danger and threats as the Unseelie’s seem to be flooding the streets of Dublin!   KMM’s writing is fabulous and this Fever series is an absolute triumph!!!   EXTREMELY and HIGHLY  RECOMMENDED!!!!

I started reviewing books many years ago - but my love of reading began as soon as I could read and that’s a long time! From my very first library card, I would spend my summers at the local library rather than outside playing. My tastes ran from every horse book I could find, to dog books, then gothic romances, and now historical romances with the Regency period having a very close spot in my heart. [Many of my friends, who really know me, say I was born in the wrong era - they’re probably right.] Now that I am retired, and busier than ever, I read almost all genres with the exception of hard core erotica, horror and anything involving more than one sex partner! I am loyal to my tried and true favorite auto-buy authors but love discovering the newer authors as well. I was once a very impatient person, but now retired, and with a book, an audio, or my Kindle by my side - I am the epitome of infinite patience to sit and wait for whatever comes next be it for the light to change, a doctor’s appointment, or a commercial break on the television!
