Ashe Carver is used to fighting monsters. It’s what she does best. Unfortunately, she now finds herself forced to give it all up if she wants to keep custody of her daughter. But what if the monsters just keep coming? Even worse, can she refuse to help Captain Reynard when his very existence is now in jeopardy?
The hits just keep coming from Sharon Ashwood! UNCHAINED is the third book in her Dark Forgotten series and each book just keeps getting better and better. UNCHAINED can be read as a stand alone although almost all of the characters have appeared in earlier books. Frankly, I can’t imagine not wanting to read all three novels as this series is nothing short of stellar!
It takes a very talented author to put together a world filled with so many unusual creatures (and UNCHAINED has perhaps the funniest one I’ve read in a while right in the beginning) and to not overwhelm the reader. Sometimes I feel an author has thrown in everything but the kitchen sink with all the mythical characters. This is definitely NOT the case with Sharon Ashwood! Instead, her world fits together perfectly and each book adds yet another piece to the puzzle. Injecting brief excerpts from a local radio show adds a touch of humor while showing that even the supernatural community doesn’t completely know what is going on in some parts of Ashwood’s world.
I was a little nervous about Ashe’s story. Her loss of magic at a young age has scarred her emotionally. She appears so tough… and yet Sharon Ashwood shows us another side of her. Seeing Ashe’s love for her daughter and her willingness to sacrifice anything for her daughter softens her, making her both likable and admirable. Captain Reynard is the ideal hero for Ashe as his old world charm works magic for her injured soul- while she tries to find his soul!
UNCHAINED is a must read for paranormal readers! It has enough urban fantasy and romance to satisfy fans of both genres. With a plethora of paranormal romance books hitting the shelves, it isn’t always easy to know which books to buy. Without a doubt, Sharon Ashwood has solidified herself as one of the authors I MUST buy. Highly recommended!
