The Los Angeles Summer is hot, but that doesn’t bother divorcee Leigh. Her life is going great; she has her home and her new interior design business. Then she spies her new neighbor Jared and realizes just what she’s been missing in her life is someone with intriguing ideas on how survive the scorching summer. Jared, a photojournalist is used to traveling the world, but he’s looking forward to spending a little downtime with his sexy new neighbor. As hot as things are going, things get even hotter when his best friend and lover Matteo arrives for a visit. But Jared soon learns that a summer fling isn’t enough. He wants Leigh in his life permanently.

SUMMER SOLSTICE is a well written, sexy novella that’s easy to breeze though. I thoroughly enjoyed my reading experience. I enjoyed the writing, but was disappointed with the lack of conflict between Leigh and Jared. Basically, Leigh and Jared meet, have great sex, and decide that hey, they love each other so let’s spend the rest of our lives with each other. It was hard to pin point what would keep them separated. Since they didn’t really have anything to fight for, it made it hard for me to believe in their happily ever after.

What I did love about SUMMER SOLSTICE is how unique the ménage situation was. I liked that it wasn’t three people trying to have a lasting, sustaining relationship, because honestly, I personally find it hard to suspend disbelief on that one. I honestly believe that someone is always going to be the third wheel. And in a lot of the ménage stores I read, I can usually pinpoint who the third wheel is. However, SUMMER SOLISTICE wasn’t written that way. It was written in a way of two people meeting and enjoying each other and wanting to explore the boundaries of their relationship with another person. Because of that I was able to buy into the story more, despite wishing that the author would’ve played that great premise up to create more drama and conflict in the story.

Despite my issues, I enjoyed SUMMER SOLSTICE. This isn’t my first novella by Eden Bradley and it won’t be my last.

My name is Lynette, I live in Michigan. I'm a stay-at-home mom married to a cop. I've been reading romance novels since I was eleven years old. I'll read just about anything that has a happily ever after, though my favorites are romantic suspense, erotica, historical, and contemporary novels. Reading has become the fun thing in my life that has kept me sane.
