When Kate Daniels is called to handle an emergency at the Steel Horse bar, she never expects to find a magical disaster of this proportion. Worse yet, there are ties to the shapeshifters and she’s trying desperately to avoid Curran.
MAGIC BLEEDS is the fourth book in this phenomenal urban fantasy series. While the central story does stand alone, the ongoing relationship between the characters makes reading this book within the context of the series preferable. Even better, none of the books in this series slow down but instead each one only gets better and better.
MAGIC BLEEDS gives us a bit more insight into Kate’s family history. I don’t want to reveal spoilers but suffice to say that things are heating up in Kate’s world as it’s becoming harder and harder for her to keep her true parentage a secret. The showdown is coming and it promises to be quite spectacular if MAGIC BLEEDS is any indicator at all of the powerful nature of Kate’s origins.
One of the aspects I like the most about Kate and about MAGIC BLEEDS in particular is how Ilona Andrews addresses racism. Kate is willing to- and often does- sacrifice herself and her own well being in order to stand up for what is right. MAGIC BLEEDS has some very powerful moments in which Kate’s true heroic nature shines through quite clearly. She is very human and definitely fallible but she is also a strong woman who strives to do what is right no matter the cost, particularly in the face of prejudice. Highly recommended!
