Inspirational Fiction/Contemporary

Rodeo Queen Ruth Davis reluctantly returns to Angel Springs to open up a new town veterinary clinic.  Her heart had been set on going as a missionary vet oversees, but she was turned down and urged to reapply once she has accumulated five years of stateside vet experience.  It also means she will be separated from Liam, a Doctor Without Boarders missionary that she had been seriously dating during her last volunteer stint.  She was so sure Liam and the missionary vet position were both part of God’s plan for her life.  Then a cowboy named Dodge appears on her clinic doorstep with pitiful poodle in tow.  Now what?

Rodeo Rescue is another outstanding entry in Wilson’s delightful Rodeo Royalty series.  This one is particularly near and dear to my heart as main characters Ruth and Dodge become allies to save dogs from a nearby puppy mill.  I have worked with dog rescue for over ten years and know the deplorable conditions of puppy mills and am totally thrilled to see such a popular author as Teri Wilson choose this topic as a major theme of her latest wonderful inspirational romance.   Several of her descriptions are spot-on with regards to the hardships of dogs in this unfortunate position, and the transformation of Pearl, Duchess and Cowboy are inspiring to watch.  Like the dogs, the main characters in the story each have transformations necessary in their own lives, and the way God touches and guides each of them fills my heart with joy.   Rodeo Rescue is a great example of why I love to read inspirational romance.  I simply love the renewed sense of God’s presence I feel after the story concludes.  I am now eagerly awaiting Book 3 in this series.

Let's see.. what to tell you about me.... well I'm an academic librarian and deal with stuffy boring books (I'm a mathematics librarian) so fiction is my fun outlet. My passions include ballroom dancing, bichon frise rescue work, reading (duh!) and if I had time, I'd get back to my quilting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, etc. Sigh. I really need to find my rich prince who tells me I never have to work again. LOL. Genre's that I prefer: Inspirational romance, gentle romance (Like Harlequin Medical, etc), romantic comedy and paranormal (unless they get too dark and gritty) to name a few. I love books with themes/characters of animals, librarians, dancers, trainers, ministers/missionaries, etc. Having said this, I read pretty broadly from the inspirational fiction line all the way to Blazes and chick lit. The only thing I don't really care for it erotica. I don't care for the starkness of the erotica genre. I guess I just like things wrapped up and tied with a prettier satin bow. :-)
