There can only be one dominant life form on Earth.
In the remote African wilderness, a rainforest is dying. But something else has come to life: A newly evolved predator that has survived the depredations of mankind, only to emerge from its natural habitat faster, stronger, and deadlier than anything humanity has ever faced.
And it is no longer man.
What if a new predator emerged, and man is now the hunted rather than the hunter?
Trey Gilliard has a reputation for doing things his own way, a habit that can often lead to trouble. An exploration into Senegal leads him to a dying rainforest and a new predator- a wasp previously unknown to man. Unfortunately, this predator now has man in its sights and Trey and an eclectic group of survivors and experts will have to band together if mankind has any hope of surviving this battle.
INVASIVE SPECIES is brilliantly executed! I was a little nervous about reading a book involving any sort of bug, particularly a killer apocalyptic flying and stinging bug, but the book blurb had me intrigued. Thankfully, Joseph Wallace doesn’t overly focus on the gruesome details. Rather, Wallace creates an atmosphere that conveys the sheer horror of the entire invasion, from the terror of the actual attacks to the bungling by the government- and it is the atmosphere of impending terror that necessitates reading INVASIVE SPECIES long past one’s bedtime.
In fact, James Wallace cost me quite a bit of sleep with INVASIVE SPECIES! Not only is the story so compelling that I had trouble putting it down even to eat or go to work, but the premise is the stuff of nightmares. However, it is the willingness of the human spirit to keep fighting even when all the odds appear stacked against the human species that truly makes INVASIVE SPECIES such a hit. Trey, Sheila, Jack, Kaitlin, and several others never give up and it is their hearts and souls that shine so brightly through the pages of the storyline.
What a spectacular sci fi thriller! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as I just had to know how in the world Joseph Wallace was going to resolve such a catastrophe. I look forward to reading more books by Joseph Wallace as INVASIVE SPECIES is one of the top books I’ve read this entire year. Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended!
