Three sexy werewolves- two Pack Protectors and one Alpha- and the women who love them… Sarah McCarty puts a new sensual spin on werewolves in her interconnected stories featuring these three steamy men. “Donovan” Donovan can’t resist a woman in distress and Lisa Delaney is clearly in distress. From the moment she walks into the bar, her very scent catches his attention. However, it is her spunk at standing up to the much larger bully, Buddy, that makes him intervene. Can love stand a chance when mating between a human and a Pack member is strictly forbidden? Sparks fly immediately between these two very feisty characters! Lisa is used to being the caretaker, not the one being cared for, and it leads to some interesting moments. The glimpses we see of the Pack life and rules provide a great sense of structure for Donovan’s character and why he acts the way he does. The attraction between Donovan and Lisa is absolutely scorching as Sarah McCarty heats up the pages with their story. “Kelon” Kelon answers the call of his Alpha, Wyatt, and arrives to help protect Donovan’s new family from the danger that has threatened their lives. Kelon isn’t too happy over his brother’s mating with a human as Pack law forbids it and he doesn’t want to lose his brother. But then he sees Robin Delaney…. Kelon is a heartbreaker. His dedication to Robin once he learns her sad secret left me in tears. Kelon is the sort of man any woman sighs dreamily over, a man who protects his woman and still appreciates every single moment they have together. I particularly liked the sensitivity Sarah McCarty used in creating Robin’s character. Her character could have been depressed and melancholy but instead Robin offers all those around her a sense of joy and hope. ”Wyatt” Wyatt has been busy dealing with challengers to his Alpha role. The arrival of Donovan, Lisa, Kelon, Robin, and Heather adds an unexpected kink to the issue. Werewolves are forbidden to mate with humans and Wyatt’s role as Alpha is to uphold the law. But Wyatt wants to change the Pack. Will his feelings for Heather be his downfall? Without a doubt, Wyatt’s story is my favorite of the anthology. Heather’s reactions to her sisters’ statements about werewolves had me laughing hysterically. After all, wouldn’t any sensible human think the same? Heather is the strong willed sister, the older sister who has carried the load for her family for so long. An Alpha male like Wyatt is perhaps the only type of man she wouldn’t steamroll right over and the only man who would love her unconditionally. Better yet, all the various threads tie together in this final story of RUNNING WILD. RUNNING WILD showcases the writing skills of Sarah McCarty to perfection. The ongoing story arcs throughout the three intertwined stories keeps the reader hooked, anxiously wanting to see what happens next. Not only does Sarah McCarty write sizzling hot stories, but the sense of family and trust that permeates RUNNING WILD is extraordinary. Please, please Ms. McCarty tell me there are more werewolves in store for us!!Reviewed by Anne |
