Unrequited love is never easy, but when the object of your affection happens
to be your best friend in the world, it is that much harder. That is why
Ellie is moving away from Cedar Grove and Jake – to save their friendship
and her heart. It is tearing her apart watching him date other women when
she wants him for herself.
Their last night together starts off like any other movie night, but ends
quite unexpectedly… But does their night of unbridled passion mean as much
to Jake as it does to Ellie? And when Ellie discovers the secret Jake has
been harboring, will she be able to forgive him?
I
will admit it right up front – I am the biggest fool for stories about best
friends who fall in love. The best relationships start with a friendship
first, and I know that is the kind of relationship I hope to find for myself
one day. Of course, these relationships (and stories about them) come
complete with built in angst over turning the friendship into something
more. What happens to the friendship if the romantic love dies? Is taking
a chance on love worth losing a valued friendship over?
Delinda Jasper pens a wonderful little story with A Reason to Stay,
giving readers everything they could hope for in just such a story. Fans of
Jasper’s will be further excited to know that this story is part of her
Cedar Grove series, and is connected to Lorelei’s Dance
and her upcoming release, Romancing Lorelei. I understand the
connection will be much more evident in Romancing Lorelei, and
I cannot wait to read it! While these stories are connected, it will not
make a difference which of the two that are available now you read first –
both stand well on their own.
A Reason to Stay leaves me once again running through the
roster of my male friends, wondering if possibly one of them might be my own
true love… Hmmm.. Maybe if I had a friend who was a firefighter like
Jake? Yeah, that’s it. I just need to befriend a hunky firefighter…
See? The story is inspirational in so many ways! LOL
