Five years ago, almost to the day, Elena broke up with Marc on what would have been their wedding day. He will use every tool in his arsenal to interrogate her, and isn’t above kidnapping and a little seductive torture to do it. It almost killed Elena to break up with Marc on Valentine’s Day years ago, but she knew that was the only way to protect him from her stepfather’s threats. Yet fate seems determined to throw them together, and Elena knows she can’t hold out for long against Marc’s questions. When he turns up the heat, there is no way on Earth she can withstand him… I really liked Jade James’ story Bound Captive. So much so, that I would dearly love to see it expanded and republished with a lot more detail. While I enjoyed it immensely, there is so much more that could be done with this story – it is absolutely ripe with potential that forty-eight pages just does not allow. I find myself fervently hoping for sequels, prequels and an expanded story one day. That said, it is a wonderful little book filled with plenty of heat. The author deftly sets up the story’s history with a tidy little prologue that sets the stage for distrust and tension between lead characters Elena Montes and Marc Garcia. While Marc is furious with Elena at the beginning of the first chapter, his anger and vengeful intentions towards her are quickly dispelled as he discovers the truth behind her reasons for leaving him five years before, and her stepfather’s evil. Still, he is no less purposeful towards her as his motives switch from revenge to claiming her once again and protecting her from her stepfather. Elena’s sacrifice and pain is enough to break your heart. Under her stepfather’s unrelenting thumb for years, she struggles to separate herself from him and his evil. In the end, the very thing that drove Marc and Elena apart is the same thing that brings them back together, bringing the couple full circle for a happy ending.
