After almost giving in to their passions one fateful night, Jenny ran from the man she knew she could never have, Ty, and her childhood home, Parsons’ Pass. When tragedy strikes, and her ‘Grandpa Daddy’ passes away, she returns to Parsons’ Pass to care for her Grandma and temporarily fill the post of veterinarian left vacant with her Grandfather’s death. When Ty and Jenny come face to face after facing individual tragedies and years of separation, sparks fly once again. After his disastrous marriage, Ty swore he would never love again, but when he finds Jenny in his barn, where they once almost made love, he begins to forget why. In just fifty-three pages, Emma Peterson has managed to write an intensely emotional and complete love story in Branded. In fact, the story is so full and well fleshed out, it fools the reader into believing they are reading a much longer story. The author was able to easily establish a rich background for both characters and convince the reader of Ty and Jenny’s deep friendship and abiding, although hidden, love. In addition to creating a wealth of history for them, she creates new obstacles for their relationship, and then deftly carries them through to a believable happy ever after ending. Branded was my first read penned by Emma Peterson, and I daresay it will not be my last. I will be looking for more of her work! Reviewed by Jennifer
