Carmen has fled to
Florida,
ostensibly to visit her best friend, but with also with the thought of
making the move permanent. Having lost the job she’d worked so hard in for
years, there is nothing left for her in California, and she is determined to
change her life and make a fresh start.
When her friend Olivia and her Doms take her to Club Incognito for a charity
auction on her first night in town, Olivia finds herself quite taken with
the BDSM lifestyle and most especially with Carl, the club’s most prominent
submissive. Once Carl appears on the charity auction block, Olivia places
the winning bid for a weekend of pampering from Carl.
The weekend turns into more than either could have expected. As Carl
teaches her the intricacies of the Dominant/submissive relationship, they
must learn to trust each other in ways neither have trusted anyone before.
While the Incognito series centers around the BDSM lifestyle,
each of the stories in Madison Layle and Anna Leigh Keaton’s popular series
has brought a fresh perspective to this genre, never failing to both
surprise and delight me! With Charming Carmen, we enjoy a
story of a totally inexperienced Domme and a submissive man, who trains her
in the ways of a Dominant, but finds the most important lesson of all is one
he must learn himself – trust.
Typically these stories will star an experienced Dom with a new submissive,
but I loved this very different slant on a BDSM relationship, where the
Dominant partner must learn the ways of the lifestyle from a very
experienced submissive. To aid Carmen in her new role, Carl must buck his
own sub instincts and act as a switch to show her first hand how a Dom
treats his/her sub and the effects of BDSM play on the submissive partner.
Carmen’s natural instincts prove true, and she adapts to the part of Domme
easily, understanding far more than Carl at first gives her credit for.
Carl has slowly escalated in the Incognito stories from minor
character to supporting player until readers were practically salivating for
this intriguing man’s story, and the authors did not disappoint us in
Charming Carmen. Carl shows that a submissive man is not
necessarily a weak man. I for one learned much about the motivations a man
might have for acting in a sexually submissive role, and will readily admit
that my perspective on this creature has changed for the better.
Tat is something I can truly say about each of the books in this series.
Layle and Keaton always find a way to teach me something new, both about
this lifestyle and myself. They succeed time and again in altering my
perceptions and making me think. While these talented authors continue to
provoke me in such ways, I will be first in line to read their books as soon
as they release!
