After their father dies, the three Gallatin sisters throw themselves into operating their roadhouse in the wilds of Montana. Having spent their childhood moving from place to place, Gwen, Lacy and Beth are determined to hold onto their roots.

But their father’s death continues to haunt Gwen, who believes he was killed because she is cursed. When an unexpected visitor arrives, Gwen’s heart is in turmoil. Is the man who he claims to be? And can she take a chance on love again?

Tracie Peterson returns to Montana with her newest series, the BRIDES OF GALLATIN COUNTY. A PROMISE TO BELIEVE IN is Gwen’s story, and from the opening, we are presented with a strong woman who has endured a lot of loss in her life: from her mother, to the husband who died right after they were married, and now her father. Somehow, the circumstances surrounding these deaths have convinced her that she is cursed.

When Hank Bishop arrives at Gallatin house demanding to know which woman married his brother and stole his family’s stock certificates, Gwen is thrown into turmoil. She thought she’d known Harvey, the man she married, and now she finds out that he’d lied to her about his past. As she begins to spend time with Hank, she realizes that she could easily fall for him. But how can she trust him?

A PROMISE TO BELIEVE IN is a story about forgiveness and trusting God through the rough times. Tracie Peterson manages to inject her trademark adventurous spirit into the story, and although I had trouble believing Gwen’s conviction that she is cursed, I was still drawn into the lives of the three sisters and captivated by them. I look forward to reading the rest of the tales in the BRIDES OF GALLATIN COUNTY series.
