Eden St. Claire, an operative of Last Chance Rescue Enterprises (LCR), has made the finding of missing and exploited children her life’s work. Seven years ago she was the victim of a horrific tragedy, one that stripped her of her identity and left her emotionally vulnerable. Since then she’s used her new name and face to take down organized trafficking networks. But her secrets catch up to her during a daring rescue of an innocent girl on the Greek islands and suddenly, she finds herself with a new partner.

Jordan Montgomery has come to LCR to locate the girl he can’t forget who disappeared without a trace seven years ago, but his unique skills make him the perfect candidate for an LCR operative. Though he doesn’t recognize Eden from his past, he is immediately drawn to her. Thrown together on an international case, they must find a way to put their differences aside and work together before a ruthless killer catches up with them.

RESCUE ME is a strong debut from author Christy Reece. The book starts out with a bang and the pace doesn’t let up until The End.

Ms. Reece does a great job of making both Eden and Jordan likeable, empathetic characters by giving them flaws and mistakes that readers readily identify with. The tension between them sizzles from the get go, and the anticipation of waiting for Jordan to discover the truth of Eden’s identity kept me turning the pages at a rapid pace.

Though the villain is a known entity from the start, the suspense still manages to steadily build to its climax. Eden and Jordan are strong, kick-butt operatives that knock down the obstacles in their way in exciting, action packed scenes that leave the reader on the edge of their seat.

If I had to make one ‘complaint’ it would be that Ms. Reece’s point of view transitions tend to be abrupt and frequent, which, at times, left me struggling to catch up to the character’s thoughts and emotions instead of giving me a chance to really get in their heads and feel what they were feeling. But, all in all, RESCUE ME was an exciting, fast paced read and I look forward to checking out Ms. Reece’s future offerings.
