Poppy Hathaway wouldn’t trade her unconventional family for anything, but sometimes she can’t help but long for a normal life. When she meets Harry Rutledge, the mysterious owner of the Rutledge Hotel, her life suddenly becomes anything but normal. Caught in a flirtation that damages her reputation, Poppy shocks her family by accepting his proposal. But she soon finds that while her new husband offers her passion, he withholds his trust.

Harry has always kept the world at arm’s length. Love serves no purpose to him, and when he desires something, he simply does whatever it takes to acquire it, as is the case with Poppy. But Poppy demands nothing less than a marriage built on love and trust.

I can always count on Lisa Kleypas to sweep me away from my daily trials and tribulations. TEMPT ME AT TWILIGHT is the latest Hathaway saga, and like the previous books, it is full of complex characters, clever wit, and passion.

I loved Poppy’s intelligence and the fact that Harry wasn’t a typical hero. He has just the right amount of wicked villain in him to keep the story fresh and intriguing, because Harry isn’t about to let anything stand in the way of making Poppy his, even if he has to use manipulation and deceit to win her. I loved that bit of ruthlessness in him, even as I felt for Poppy when she discovers it.

Whereas most romance stories end with a marriage, this one practically begins with it. And as the story unfolds, readers are treated to an entertaining view of Poppy and Harry as they try to adjust to being husband and wife. Poppy strives to find her place in Harry’s world, while Harry struggles with how to react to the unfamiliar feelings of love that begin to blossom towards his wife.

Though I felt that Harry remained something of a mystery throughout the book (he wasn’t laid bare like Cam and Merripen were in their books), TEMPT ME AT TWILIGHT was still an absolutely charming and engrossing read. Ms. Kleypas never fails to grab my emotions and give me a satisfying can’t-put-down story.

As an extra added treat, new developments (and secrets!) arise between Leo Hathaway and Catherine Marks that will have readers squeeing with delight. I absolutely cannot wait for their story!

TEMPT ME AT TWILIGHT is highly recommended. Readers will not be disappointed!
