Pregnant and alone, Jessica Thornton has fled England to escape the weight of a scandalous secret. When her stagecoach crashes in the New Mexico Territory, Jessica must rely on Brady Wilkins. Brady is a tough-as-nails rancher, as rough and tumble as they come, but behind that roughness lays a strong man full of honor. As Jessica and Brady form a strong bond, she begins to see there is more to Brady than he lets on, but each must learn to let go of their past if they are ever to have a future. PIECES OF SKY is a brilliant Western saga! Ms. Warner is a beautiful writer whose heartfelt prose literally takes your breath away. I devoured this book from beginning to end, swept away by such realistically drawn characters, and an appreciation for the harsh splendor of the New Mexico territory. One of the things I loved most about this book is that it is true to life during the 1860s. Ms. Warner does not sugarcoat the heartbreaking, tragic hardships that both Jessica and Brady must endure, which makes for a gripping, suspenseful read that keeps you off balance as you wonder how they will overcome all the obstacles. This is what a true Western romance saga should be. Add in a well-drawn, creepy villain, and some fabulous secondary characters, and PIECES OF SKY is a story that readers will treasure for years to come. Brady Wilkins is a magnificent hero, and Jessica a spirited, engaging heroine. In fact, all of Ms. Warner’s characters are multi-faceted and compelling, and she has a way of making you feel as if they were real. I adored taking this journey with them, and was so sorry to see the book come to a close. I am thrilled to recommend PIECES OF SKY—this is one book that shouldn’t be missed. Ms. Warner is now on my must read list. I simply cannot wait for the next book in the Blood Rose Trilogy, OPEN COUNTRY.
