Kitty and Ben return home to Denver, happy to be back among friends after their latest struggle with the Band of Tiamat. After a moonlight run in the woods changes to frenzied fleeing for their lives from some mysterious fire entity, Kitty and Ben begin to suspect that the Band of Tiamat has sent some evil after them to exact retribution for the recent defeat of the Band. It will take the combined efforts of all her friends, both new and old, to combat this new foe, and the process will not be without sacrifice and mayhem. Will Ben and Kitty prevail, or will there be Kitty Flambé? Kitty is back and Vaughn has returned once again to the top of her game with this newest adventure. Loyal readers should settle in for another delightful roller coaster ride in Kitty Raises Hell. This book takes up where the transition book of Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand left off and all of our favorite characters are back as well as the addition of some delightful new players who belong to the Paradox PI team. As with her other books, I recommend you read the Kitty books in order if you wish to achieve maximum comprehension of how the world of Kitty Norville has come to be. In particular, do not be tempted to skip Dead Man’s Hand as it contains important set-ups for Kitty Raises Hell. You will be rewarded with a much more satisfying wrap-up of the two part story in the end. I can’t wait to see what Vaughn will dream up for Kitty next. Maybe a bigger role for Cormac? We haven’t forgotten him and inquiring minds want to know what is next for him once he is out of jail. Reviewed by Crystal |
