Daveny Montgomery is a talented landscape artist. She is given the exciting opportunity to revitalize her church’s grounds and her energy and enthusiasm quickly has the whole congregation joining in to help with the project. Even Collin Edwards, who has not entered his old church home since the death of his brother who died in the line of duty as a police officer, is enchanted and finds himself increasingly roped in to helping Daveny with her project. As the church grounds begin to come alive and bloom once again, so does a fragile love begin to take root in the hearts of Daveny and Collin. Can their love survive their faith differences? This Miniature Rose story was a lovely shorter novel that would be perfect for busy readers without the time or mental energy to concentrate on longer, more complex plot structures. I found Heart’s Crossing to be a wonderful story that comforts like your favorite comfy, fuzzy robe, warming you from your toes all the way to your heart. Daveny Montgomery is a joyful, exuberant character, and I found myself anxiously following Collin Edwards’ faith journey as he finally begins to deal with the common and very difficult faith question of “How can God allow this?” Heart’s Crossing offers a wonderful reminder of the personal renewal and revitalization that is possible with God and is fittingly appropriate as we approach the Easter season. I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the near future. Reviewed by Crystal |
