When Carol attends her mother’s funeral, a handsome but confused stranger joins her in the pew. After the service, they discover that he was attending the wrong funeral! His aunt’s service was just down the street, but he stops to console Carol and an impulsive kiss is exchanged as both connect to the other’s pain. But she would never see the stranger again, Carol mused and felt a surprising disappointment. That disappointment turns to shock when Luke Peter’s is announced as their new church intern. Just as they are acknowledging their joint attraction, Carol feels pulled to the mission field. Luke doesn’t intend to give her up, even to God, without a fight! I like The Easter Edition. This is the third of the Turtle Creek Edition stories, but the prior novels are not required in order to fully enjoy this book. While I found the early part of the novel a little slow, I really became fascinated as the focus became more on Carol’s mission calling. I wish we could have lived through her months on the mission field in more detail. I feel like it would have been particularly effective to follow both her life adventures and Luke’s back at home during these key months. Nevertheless, The Easter Edition as presented had a good Christian message and a happy ending with a humorous twist effectively intertwined. I look forward to returning to Turtle Creek for further stories of the charming town. Reviewed by Crystal |
