The Demon King and I is the debut book in a hot new series from veteran, best selling author, Candace Havens. Gillian Caruthers is the eldest of four rich, globetrotting, socialite sisters, all of which have secret lives as Guardian Keys. Each sister was born with special powers that best suits them for fighting their particular brand of “otherworld” beings who seek create mayhem on Earth. Gillian is the Guardian Key for the portals to demon worlds, and an escalation of “jumpers” from portals around the world has all the sisters working double-time. Traditional foes become uneasy partners as a new evil spreads throughout the universe. If you have not yet secured your copy of The Demon King and I, RUN, not walk, to your nearest bookstore today! I have been a big fan of Candace Havens since I first read her Bronwyn the witch series (Charmed & Dangerous, Charmed & Ready, etc). I admit that I was more than a little reluctant to try this new series. I didn’t want to leave Bronwyn and her friends and the idea of a Demon King as a lead character had an initial “ick” factor for me. Boy was I wrong! There is absolutely no “ick” in The Demon King and I unless you want to count fantas”ick”! Through Haven’s skillful use of first person narrative, I, like Gillian, found myself fascinated by Arath, the newly crowned Demon King even as we were both horrified by the mere idea that a demon could garner our interest. Dear Readers, be prepared to be totally enchanted and entertained by the butt-kicking, fashion conscious Caruther sisters. It is patently clear that each have a fabulous personality and will make awesome heroines in each of the books in this hot, new series. I wish I had more than 5 Klovers to rate with; it just doesn’t seem enough to do this novel justice. The Caruther Sisters totally rock. Reviewed by Crystal |
