It
has been more than fifteen years since the Alvians destroyed the Earth’s
population with the intent to settle it themselves. But a few humans
survived the apocalypse, and it soon becomes apparent that those survivors
often harbor paranormal abilities of varying types and strengths.
Chief Engineer Davin is the only crystallographer with the ability to tune
the Earth’s crystals necessary for his alien race. Although Alvian, Davin
is a throwback, born with the primitive emotions long ago bred out of the
rest of his race. The anomaly makes his people wary of him, even while they
need his special talents, for throwbacks who do not find their
Resonance Mates are prone to eventual insanity.
Davin is more than surprised to find the woman he suspects is his own
Resonance Mate in the form of one very innocent human,
fifteen-year-old Callie O’Hara. Knowing she is too young to yet become his
mate, he bides his time until she matures. The very knowledge of her
existence is enough to bring him hope and stave off the madness that has
long threatened him.
But Callie just may have a second Resonance Mate, the human
Rick St. John. As an adolescent male at the time of the cataclysm, he
remembers how things used to be, when a marriage involved only one man and
one woman – not a group of men with one woman. He vows he will never take
part in such an unnatural arrangement. But tragedy has a way of changing
the way society works, and meeting Callie just might make Rick change his
own mind…
Together, this trio not only have the potential for great happiness and
love, but the power to change the world and save the future of mankind.
Hara’s Legacy, the first book in Bianca D’Arc’s
Resonance Mates series, introduced fans to a post-apocalyptic Earth
and the O’Hara family, who settle into an unorthodox but definitely happy
marriage with three brothers married to the woman they’d all loved since
childhood. With the second book in this riveting saga, D’Arc returns her
fans to the O’Hara family as their first daughter, Callie, finds her
Resonance Mates Davin and Rick and forges a new life living with
Davin among the Alvian race.
With her gift of empathy, Callie is more than a balm to Davin’s fragile
emotions, which he has struggled his whole life to suppress while living
amongst his unemotional brethren. The fact that Callie proves to be his
destined mate soothes him further, even as she fires his blood with her
unconscious sensuality.
Davin himself is more like a human than an Alvian, harboring a great deal of
compassion for the human race’s current predicament at the hands of his
race, and tremendous guilt over his own part in it, albeit unintenational.
For the Alvians could not have taken the Earth as they did without their
most gifted crystallographer. Because of the role he unknowingly played in
the destruction of the human race, Davin works tirelessly to right the
wrongs done to mankind.
And then there is Rick. Rick is the friction in this romantic trio, with
his considerable doubts about entering into such an unconventional marriage
arrangement. Noble and brave, this futuristic hero effortlessly captures
both Callie’s and the readers hearts with his chivalrous actions. But as
noble as he is, he is not at all immune to Callie’s attempts to seduce him…
Much to the readers’ utter delight!
Just in case it has not yet become clear, Davin’s Quest is a
ménage romance, as was the preceding story in this series. In a world where
men greatly outnumber the women, nature creates a solution by creating
multiple mates for each woman. Consequently, there is plenty of smoldering
hot sex in this story, but it is all between committed people in love, not
for the purpose of gratuitous titillation. Although I will admit, those
scenes are definitely titillating in a very good way! LOL
Resonance Mates, Book 2: Davin’s Quest will most certainly
appeal to fans of futuristic romance who enjoy reading about ménage
relationships. Once again, Bianca D’Arc has delivered a story full of
steamy sex, emotional romance, and gripping suspense all wrapped up in a
beautiful story of boundless love and human resilience.
