Electra-Djerroldina, the Queen of Volnoth, needs to produce an heir for her husband and King, Viz-Igerd. The Volnoth culture is entirely different from her own but she has adapted…other than the lack of an heir. In desperation, she propositions ‘Rhett, the Royal Saurian Djinn. He refuses but Prince Tarrant-Arragon has a surprise in store for both of them. KNIGHT’S FORK is the third book in Rowena Cherry’s intriguing science fiction/futuristic romance series. As such, the plotlines and various characters have intertwined throughout the series making this book better understood in the context of the series as a whole. Rowena Cherry provides a very helpful Djinn Family Tree at the beginning of the book to refresh readers on the relationships as the plethora of characters can be overwhelming. Rowena Cherry has crafted a series that is both original and intriguing. The politics of the various peoples and cultures is vastly entertaining as Ms. Cherry does an excellent job at creating new worlds. The intricate details add just the right touch to make her futuristic worlds seem believable. World building is an art and one in which Rowena Cherry is a master. KNIGHT’S FORK is a fun tale. I was glad to see Grievous again as he is one of my favorite minor characters! My only regret is that I wanted to see more of ‘Rhett’s outrageous family and Viz-Igerd, particularly in the middle of the book which started to drag just a bit. All were present but I wanted a tad more as each adds such a unique flavor to the overall story. Reviewed by Debbie |
