Cole Warnecki needs a vacation and the hunting trip to Canada sounds like just the thing to help him refocus. Unfortunately, he gets more than he bargained for as he soon finds a world that he thought only existed in the video games he helps design. Are monsters really lurking out there unknown to the general populace? A phone call to MEG Branch 40, the Midwest Ectological Group, sends Cole to a meeting with Skinner Paige Strobel and will change his life forever.

BLOOD BLADE is the first book in a series featuring the Skinners, a group of people fighting against the supernatural beasties that stalk the earth. Marcus Pelegrimas presents somewhat of a mixed bag in that the storyline is fun, albeit a bit shallow.

Readers are thrown almost immediately into the action with little chance to get to know any of the characters and information is delivered in small pieces. The characters are somewhat frustrating in that their motivations are undefined. Why on earth did Cole keep following Paige’s lead? And yet, somehow I kept reading- and fully intend to read the second book as well.

BLOOD BLADE is a fun, action packed story. After the initial set up of Cole’s character, the action doesn’t relent until the very end. I couldn’t help but think that this would have made a fantastic movie as the special effects would more than make up for the simplicity of the plot. Entertaining.
