Kaylee Cavanaugh is enjoying a concert when things go seriously awry. Kaylee is a bean sidhe and any death results in her scream… except this time someone dies and she doesn’t wail. Kaylee’s boyfriend, Nash, doesn’t want to get involved in reaper business, especially not reaper business involving Demon’s Breath! However, his brother, Tod, is adamant that Kaylee help. Will Kaylee lose everything in her quest to save another teenager’s soul from eternal torment?

MY SOUL TO SAVE is the second book in the Soul Screamers series and picks up on Kaylee’s new journey into the world of the bean sidhe. Readers will best appreciate this story in the context of the series as a whole, as the character development and relationships are built upon the events in the first novel, MY SOUL TO TAKE.

Rachel Vincent does a phenomenal job at world building and MY SOUL TO SAVE demonstrates this talent quite well. The Netherworld is an eerie, creepy place and I certainly hope we see more of it in future books. The descriptions of both the plant life and the denizens of the Netherworld are nothing short of brilliant.

MY SOUL TO SAVE touches on themes that will resonate both with teenagers and adults. Addison’s plight is easily understandable as is Kaylee’s desire to help her. However, it is the scene with the fiend that stands out the most. Without revealing spoilers, suffice to say that Rachel Vincent doesn’t shy away from addressing sensitive subjects. Not only does she tackle the concept of the end justifying the means, but the image involved is one that will haunt me for quite awhile. Rachel Vincent is without a doubt at the top of her game with MY SOUL TO SAVE. Highly recommended!
