Someone is murdering women in the Denver area and the FBI has dubbed him as THE BRIDE COLLECTOR. Special Agent Brad Raines is willing to follow any lead, even when it leads him to the Center for Well-being and Intelligence (CWI). CWI is a residential facility for individuals possessing both a mental illness and a high level of intelligence. Their approach varies from the traditional treatment, and one of the residents, Paradise Founder, stands out to Brad. Will Paradise be able to assist Brad in capturing THE BRIDE COLLECTOR?

Ted Dekker generally writes a strong tale with a solid Christian storyline. THE BRIDE COLLECTOR has a Christian theme running through it, particularly as the killer’s extremism is contrasted with the faith of others. As one would expect from a Ted Dekker novel, there is also a great deal of symbolism within the text.

However, THE BRIDE COLLECTOR is a disappointment overall. Not only does the story seem to drag quite a bit, but the entire concept of the FBI involvement with the CWI seemed far-fetched. I wanted to enjoy the positive light being shed on individuals dealing with mental illnesses, but Ted Dekker’s spin seemed more sensational than realistic. Worse yet, the ethics and boundaries of some of the characters left me a bit uneasy. In fact, it was a struggle for me to finish THE BRIDE COLLECTOR at all.
