One month. That is all the time Hades is willing to allow Xypher. A bargain has allowed Xypher one month back on earth so he can do a good deed and forever escape Tartarus. Failure means eternal torture.  Xypher doesn’t intend to do any good deeds, however. All he has in mind is revenge, revenge on Satara, the woman who betrayed him in the first place. Satara is determined to kill him first but her plans go awry when Xypher is saddled with Simone Dubois. Will Simone soften Xypher’s heart and help him regain his sense of humanity? Or is Xypher doomed to spend forever in Tartarus?

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s complex world of Hunters and Daimons only gets better and better with each new offering. Readers new to the series may initially be overwhelmed by the various characters and roles (i.e., Hunter, Daimon, Squire, etc) but Ms. Kenyon quickly draws the reader into her cleverly crafted world. It’s hard to stop reading just one Kenyon book at a time, as each book only makes the reader want to reread past books to see how all the various threads fit together. Ms. Kenyon has obviously put a great deal of thought into the overall world of her stories and it is greatly appreciated by her multitude of fans!

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s rich and vast series is populated by a whole host of intriguing characters. Xypher is a dark hero, one tormented by his past choices. It’s hard not to want him to have happiness, as he had selflessly sacrificed for a woman he thought he loved, only to discover betrayal was her primary goal. Simone is the ideal heroine for Xypher. She is tough and determined, but has a beautiful heart. However, it is Jesse who steals the show! Jesse is a ghost who adopted Simone as a sibling of sorts during a very dark time in her life. The interactions between Simone and Jesse are absolutely priceless!
