Scarlet Nelson badly needs a night out. Setting out for an evening of rare frivolity with her two friends, the three witches are soon separated. Scarlet heads to the bar in search of a margarita, and finds just the irresistible werewolf she was hoping to avoid – Grant Anderson. Grant recognized Scarlet as his mate when he first saw her, and has pursued her ever since. But catching a witch as skittish as Scarlet proves difficult even for the Pack Alpha! When someone uses black magic to turn a pack of zombies loose on the casino, Grant and Scarlet must work together to save everyone… Cobblestone Press’s Vegas Magic series is a trilogy of connected stories by three different authors whose skills and imagination complement each other very well. The Vegas Magic stories star three friends who arrive at the Crypt Casino in Las Vegas to celebrate Halloween night. They separate almost immediately upon arrival, and each book is told from the perspective of a different woman, and centers on her romance. While the books do ask that the reader suspend disbelief a bit, as each of the friends finds true love on the same night and in the same place, the effect of the three perspectives is undeniably fun! Each of the books is peppered with tidbits from the other two women’s stories, which enhances each of the stories. While the three stories share a setting, each has a different antagonist to challenge the leading couple. After reading one of the books in this series, I knew I had to read all of them right away, and I was not disappointed in any of them. Although the books’ storylines are closely integrated, and the timelines are simultaneous, they can be read in no particular order without spoiling the experience at all. Gone With the Wolf by Loribelle Hunt is the first book I read in the Vegas Magic series, and definitely made me hungry for more! This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and I can guarantee you it will not be the last! Grant has every quality a woman could want in a sexy alpha werewolf – tough, fierce, possessive, protective, and wickedly talented in ways that make me blush! Put all that together with a sensitivity to Scarlet’s needs, and the patience to let her come to terms with their connection, and he is one mouth-watering shape shifter! Scarlet has been hurt before, and is understandably reluctant to commit again – something many women can identify with. Experiencing her romance with Grant leaves single women hope that we might one day meet our own Grant – a man who can break down our resistance without breaking our spirit, as Grant did for Scarlet.
