“I guess you’re more like a mother figure to me.” Even Claire, with her lack of dating prowess knows that sentence sounds the death knoll for any relationship. And with no further adieu, Rod exits her life, leaving Claire alone for the Christmas holidays, no less. Determined to celebrate the holidays, albeit alone, Claire sets about putting up her Christmas decorations. But when the snow globe the hunky little Nutcracker Prince calls home knocks her unconscious, she wakes to find herself in the arms of none other than the very Nutcracker Prince she’s fantasized about and who seems all too eager to fulfill her every desire! This is the second Christmas story of Karen Erickson’s I have enjoyed and judging from these two, I would say it is evident she has a penchant for Christmas miracles – much to the readers’ benefit! Of course, who DOESN’T long for a Christmas miracle when things don’t seem to be going quite their way? Even with the fanciful holiday theme, the author keeps Her Christmas Prince very real, and Claire is a character we can all identify with. No, it doesn’t make any sense to jump up to try and dislodge a box from a high shelf when there is a sturdy chair not a yard away that would serve very well as a stepladder, but I have to admit that I have been guilty of the very same on more than one occasion, and will likely be guilty of it again in the future! This scene made me laugh out loud, partly at Claire, but more at myself! LOL The story is very short, at just 22 pages in PDF format, but Erickson manages to deliver a wonderful tale with a satisfying ending, complete with an unexpected twist… Sure, you could wait until next Christmas to pick this one up, but why? That’s a whole ten months away, and you could enjoy it right now…
