Janice learned about her husband’s mistress quite by accident, but once she did, she resolved not to take it lying down, as it were.  She investigates her rival herself, and is more than surprised by what she finds…  The results of her investigation spawn a retaliation against Jason the likes of which he could never expect.  And the results of which change their lives forever…

Jason’s Reckoning is the first published book by newcomer Merry Phillips, and I am sure it will not be her last!  Phillips proves she has a vivid imagination in this story, and she invites readers to share in it, engaging us with her characters immediately.

I have to admit, although the retaliation Janice plans is not one that I personally could identify with, the author’s ability with a pen (or should I say keyboard?) certainly makes me believe the plot works for these characters.

Janice is a woman scorned, certainly, but she is not unreasonable.  She recognizes in her rival someone who has also been duped by Jason, and a woman she could call friend.  Janice alone is devious enough, but the two women plotting together are more than a handful for the unsuspecting wayward husband!
