Charlotte Lamb is a proper vicar’s daughter whose one mistake costs her more than she ever dreamed. To avoid the censure of those around her, she leaves her hometown for London’s Milkweed Manor, a place where young unmarried women go while they “deal” with their indiscretions.

But, once Charlotte arrives, she comes face-to-face with a former suitor, a man who now hides secrets of his own. As they struggle to protect those they love, they become confidants of sorts. Yet neither can imagine the battle they will face nor the depth of sacrifice that will be required. And only faith in God will see them through.

LADY OF MILKWEED MANOR is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. Ms. Klassen provides readers with vivid insight into one of the most secret occupations of unmarried women in the nineteenth century, and does so with a genuine depth that tugs at readers’ hearts.

Written in an almost Austen-esque style, LADY OF MILKWEED MANOR is poignant and compelling, a romantic drama that will sweep readers away from the opening page and put us firmly in the heart and mind of Charlotte Lamb. Charlotte employs a quiet strength that allows her to embark on a heart-wrenching journey with difficult choices as well as equally difficult rewards.

No, Charlotte’s journey is not an easy one, but it is an inspiring one. Readers come to appreciate the beauty of tough choices. For only by making these choices can we understand the power of God’s love. Only He can turn something so painful and wretched into something so beautiful. Only by His design can we come to understand our place in this world.

If you are tired of reading the same old stories and are looking for something fresh, look no further than LADY OF MILKWEED MANOR. This book is truly amazing, and I give it my highest recommendation. May it become a treasured favorite as it has for me. I eagerly anticipate Ms. Klassen’s next book.
