Before her father marries her off to a nice, but boring neighbor, Lady Grace Belmont wants one season for herself. With her height and somewhat awkward nature, she is hardly unnoticeable and David Wilton, Baron Dawson, a very large man himself takes one look at Grace and is smitten. He is after all in town to find a wife and Grace would be perfect! The only problem, but a major one for them both is that Grace’s father has never forgiven or forgotten that David’s mother once jilted him at the altar. Loving her father as she does, Grace would hate to disappoint or hurt him in any way, but how could she stand breaking David’s heart and her own if she does not follow her own heart. *** What a most entertaining read! Not only was the love and romance story between Grace and David absolutely adorable, but the secondary (and to my mind equally as important) romance between David’s Uncle Alex and Grace’s Aunt Kate was romantic as all get out! Right from the very opening pages, I had a smile on my face that stayed there from beginning to end. In my mind, for sheer entertainment value – that’s what I’m talking about! If there was any problem I saw whatsoever it was probably with the fact that Grace being of age (twenty five) I really couldn’t see her even considering not running away with David when he literally begged her to run off and marry him. Wanting to please your father was one thing but at the risk of breaking your own heart, especially having witnessed her Aunt Kate and Alex’s reunion after twenty-three years of longing – that was a bit hard to swallow. Speaking of which, the secondary romance between Kate and Alex was wonderful, even after Kate practically blew it by her announcements after an incredibly intoxicating and fabulous night of passion that was so long in coming. But, without that particular angle it would not have had that wonderful angst element that keeps one turning the pages into the wee hours of the morning. Bottom Line: This was a double your pleasure read with two exciting and wonderful romantic stories that is sure to please fans of Ms. MacKenzie’s “Naked” series and delight new fans as well. Splendid read!
