In this sweetly sensual novel Ms. McCabe created a scenario which sounds not only plausible but captures both the atmosphere and intrigue of what history details in the life of Queen Elizabeth. Using vivid detail of the architecture, sights, and smells of the 14th century during Queen Elizabeth’s reign McCabe transports the reader right into the midst of Queen Elizabeth’s court life and the day to day activities of her ladies in waiting. Rosamund and Anton’s attraction to one another while striving to keep it a secret while everyone around them looks to discover and reveal gossip to gain favor with the Queen was skillfully accomplished. The author used the intrigues and plots against the Queen to give the perfect backdrop of danger and sensual adventure to this very enticing love story. This reviewer found this to be a quick read with a nice blend of romance and history all rolled into a highly enjoyable tale most fans of the fascinating Elizabethan historical era should enjoy.
