Cassandra Adams is in a bind. In order to claim her rightful inheritance,
she must marry before she reaches her twenty-eighth birthday. If she
doesn’t, her inheritance is forfeit, and her greedy relatives receive it.
She’d thought she could marry for love before the deadline, but with two
failed engagements under her belt, and her twenty-eighth fast approaching,
she determines that perhaps a marriage arrangement would work best.
Certainly, it couldn’t be worse than the men who were supposedly ‘in love’
with her until they broke her heart.
Where does a girl look for a husband in this decade? Online, of course.
Cassandra soon nets her very own lonely Alaskan bachelor, and hops a plane
to meet the lucky groom.
But Jason Alexander had an ulterior motive for placing his personal ad
online, and he is determined to bring down the nefarious ‘Miss Lonely
Hearts’ who has plagued his friends so recently. Oh, and he believes
Cassandra IS Miss Lonely Hearts!
When these two meet, however, sparks do more than fly – they catch fire and
heat up their chilly Alaskan nights… And afternoons… And mornings…
What
can I say? I have yet to read a story by Charlene Teglia that I do not
love, and this author has done it again. With her own special blend of
humor and sex appeal, she has delivered a delightful little romance
guaranteed to warm even the coldest of nights – whether you live in Alaska
or not! LOL
Cassandra, like so many of us, has become disillusioned with love, making
her very easy to identify with. Unlike the rest of us, however, she must
suck it up and marry very soon or lose her trust fund. With millions
hanging in the balance and very little money in the bank currently, who
wouldn’t do exactly as Cassandra, giving up the search for love and
resigning oneself to a marriage of convenience instead? Of course, I
sincerely doubt most of us would be quite as lucky as our heroine, who finds
the love we all dream of in the least likely of places – and when she least
expected it.
Our intrepid hero, Jason, is the kind of man who will do anything for his
friends, but never understands that they feel the same way about him. Soon
after he meets Cassandra in person, he realizes he has been the victim of
the most wonderful kind of setup. Although he wasn’t looking for love, he
is quick to adapt when he finds it standing before him in the shape of the
delectable Miss Adams. Watching him bamboozle her into a quickie wedding
before she discovers his lies and backs out is all at once funny and
romantic! Watching him try to make up for his lies is even more
entertaining…
As with many of her other books, Teglia finds a way to subtly connect
Miss Lonely Hearts to The Gripping Beast along with
some of her other stories, simultaneously making this world seem more
familiar to her fans and hinting at a future sequel starring supporting
characters from this tale. Of course, since these stories are merely
connected instead of being a series, you can read them in no special order
and have no trouble completely immersing yourself in this fascinating story.
If you are already a fan of Charlene Teglia’s work, then Miss Lonely
Hearts is definitely a must-read! If you are new to this talented
author, then this book is a wonderful place to start. But be warned, you’ll
want to purchase the rest of her backlist as soon as you finish!
