Centuries ago in his human life, the vampire Valentine lived a life of
privilege and good fortune, until fate destroyed his happiness in one fell
stroke. Upon the loss of his wife, he is lost until a gypsy woman delivers
hope in the form of a prophecy – that his love would one day return to him.
Knowing it could be centuries before the woman he loves is reincarnated, he
seeks immortality, finding it in the form of vampirism, sacrificing his very
humanity on one slim chance of being reunited with his wife.
Now he has found her in the most unlikely of places – on his own doorstep.
But Lisa has no memory of her previous life with Valentine, although she
finds herself strangely drawn to him…
Charlene Teglia fans who have enjoyed her previous books THE GRIPPING
BEAST and NIGHT MUSIC will be happy to see the
connected book NIGHT RHYTHM expanded from its former version
and re-released with Samhain Publishing. I hesitate to call these books a
series, because they each work very well as separate stories, but simply
share the same world and characters. None of these books is dependent on a
previous book to make sense, and can be easily read in any order.
I
had previously read the shorter version of NIGHT RHYTHM, but
did not hesitate to read it again when the expanded story released
recently. I liked the first version a lot, but in this case, more
definitely proves itself better! While it is still a short story, Ms.
Teglia has definitely fleshed out the romance between Valentine and Lisa
more, and given their history together a bit more depth.
NIGHT RHYTHM is a wonderful interlude with reunited lovers and
provides a quick dose of sexy paranormal romance.
