Rory MacGrath watched his father disappear right before his eyes one night when the ancient Book of Fennore took on a life of its own. The traumatic event shaped him from innocent boy into haunted, jaded man. Turning his back on his family and his heritage, he left Ireland, vowing to forget all things magic and never return.
But when he begins to dream of a beautiful woman who calls to him, he is lured back home and sucked into another time where the beauty awaits to help him unravel the secrets of his past. As the two grow closer, the Book of Fennore threatens everything they hold dear, and Rory must learn his true destiny, before it is too late.
HAUNTING WARRIOR is the second book in Erin Quinn’s haunting series, and in it, she gives us a complex tale of secrets, betrayals and a tortured hero who can no longer ignore his past.
I love Erin Quinn’s writing! She has a way of immediately hooking me in her character’s world and making me anticipate the adventure to come. One of the things that I most love about her books is the way she manipulates the threads of time. In HAUNTING WARRIOR she uses the past and the future seamlessly, creating a tale that twists and turns, slowly revealing answers while managing to create even more questions. You can’t help but be caught up in the story she weaves, desperate to discover how it is all going to work out.
And then there’s the mystery and magic surrounding the powerful Book of Fennore. Ms. Quinn has turned the Book into a living, breathing, entity, giving it mystique and an evil energy that lurks under every layer of this story. I love how the Book is its own character.
Couple breathless time-travel and fascinating mystical legend with a tortured hero to die for, and you have the amazing tale of HAUNTING WARRIOR. Rory is so real he leaps off the pages. He’s larger than life, and yet vulnerable when it comes to his past. Saraid, the beautiful woman from his dreams, gives him the courage to seek answers, and it is through her love that he becomes the warrior he is destined to be. Their love story is beautifully written and so compelling that it completely swept me away. I absolutely did not want it to end.
Lyrical writing, breathless passion, and mystical intrigue makes HAUNTING WARRIOR a must-read. It will literally blow you away, even if you haven’t read HAUNTING BEAUTY. (And if you haven’t why not? Go pick up both of them, quick!) I simply cannot wait the third book in the series, HAUNTING DESIRE!
