Mari Valdez has a good reason to not trust cops. Her mother has had several cop husbands and all of her half and step brothers are police officers. To make matters worse, after a horrific day at work, she is pulled over on the way home and given a ticket. When she gets home all she wants to do is unwind with her favorite toy, but that’s not to be when someone pounding at her door. It turns out that there is a hostage situation in her neighborhood and a sexy sniper needs the view from her bedroom in order to get a good line of sight on the suspect. As Mari watches Marcus take calm control of the situation, she begins to re-think her ban on Men in Blue.
POSITION SECURED is a steamy, sexy short read. If you’d like a quick, erotic read, POSITION SECURED is it. I enjoyed the story despite having several issues with it. One issue, I had, which was a major EWWWW, factor for me, is when Marcus is position in her bedroom looking out her bedroom window and his weapon trained outside on the suspect. Mari is just outside the window getting turned on and pardon me, she acts on her sexual frustrations by herself. I don’t gross out easy, but that scene annoyed me so much that I put the book down and didn’t pick it up until a week later. That struck me as totally immature and not sexy. Of course my strong reaction could be totally related to what I do in my personal life (umm, I work in a police department doing Internal Affairs – LOL).
However, after I got over that and read the rest of the story, POSITION SECURED was a good read. Sexy, with interesting characters, and steamy sex; I do wish there was enough space for the characters to have a little more depth but I know that’s a hard task to accomplish in such short space.
For the price of POSITION SECURED, I recommend giving it a try.
