Tieran has resigned herself to living alone – with the exception of her Grandmother, who just happens to have been dead for ten years! A clairvoyant, Tieran’s visions can be set off with the merest touch, making dating quite a trick. Add to that the fact that most men run in the other direction when they learn of her psychic gifts, and she has given up on love. Caelan would like nothing better than to find his mate – just not right now. As Pack Prime, it’s his duty to find the shape shifter who has been murdering the female mates in various packs before it’s too late. When Caelan meets his destiny in the form of Tieran Jones one night, his time starts running out, knowing the murderer’s ultimate target would be the mate of the Pack Prime. Tieran’s visions might be the only way to save them all, but they seem to point to Caelan’s twin brother as the killer! Will he choose his mate, or his brother? Seeing Eye Mate is only the second published work of Annmarie McKenna, and yet her writing skill is that of a seasoned author. With her tale of paranormal romance, McKenna proves she is no one hit wonder, knocking another one out of the ball park! Pairing a hunky shape shifter like Caelan with a clairvoyant like Tieran affords the author the opportunity for an easy acceptance between the two lovers, with only slight trepidation regarding each other’s paranormal abilities. With this obstacle almost dealt with, the couple is left to struggle with their own fears and doubts, or rather, Tieran’s fears and doubts. While staged as a paranormal romance, the adversity we see is very human, rendering the story relatable to the average reader on a more personal level. We are left with a story that satisfies those of us who enjoy a good supernatural story whose problems can be easily understood and identified with. That said, ‘Seeing Eye Mate’ does not lack for any of the steamy love scenes you would expect in a shape shifter tale, and Caelan earns a place at the top of the list of unexpectedly sensitive sexy alpha males we all dream of finding. Tieran herself is a strong independent woman who is utterly confused by Caelan’s appearance in her life, and her own feelings about him. I would wager there are many women who will identify with Tieran’s inner turmoil concerning her relationship with Caelan. The icing on the cake is that we have an exciting mystery underneath it all. McKenna once again proves herself adept with subtle twists and turns in the story, littering the saga with clues that only begin to coalesce as the mystery finally unfolds, and leaving no doubt that there isn’t a superfluous scene in the novel.
