Not only have I found another all time favorite hero in Fayne Carlisle, the Duke of Solitea, but I have also discovered a new author who is being put on my ‘auto buy’ list. Ms. Pierce thrilled me with Wicked Under The Covers but she has WOWED me with Sinful Between the Sheets! Upon his father’s sudden death, Fayne Carlisle became the new Duke of Solitea – a position he was not eager to assume as it would cause him to leave behind his carefree, lusty lifestyle and reconsider his duty of marrying to produce the next heir. Adding to the stress he was feeling were the events that led to his father’s demise of being found in what most thought were the arms of his latest mistress, Lady Kilby Fitchwolf’s bed-chamber – a young violet-eyed beauty just arrived among the ton. Like a hound on the scent Fayne was ready to take up where his father left off. What irked Fayne the most was Kilby’s total lack of interest in his amorous pursuit and not understanding why the mysterious beauty wouldn’t jump at the chance for a younger and more virile lover than his father. Unfortunately, her disinterest only increased his increasingly lustful fantasies of catching the little wolf ‘between the sheets’. This was a most remarkable read where the author captures your attention right from the start with the tension filled flight of Lady Kilby Fitchwolf trying to escape her drunken enraged half-brother Archer who has evil designs on Kilby. To incorporate the vileness of Archer, Pierce does a remarkable job of showing the reader the actions Archer uses in threatening to harm Kilby’s beloved younger 7 year old sister Gypsy in order to lure her into obedience and then hinting to Kilby that she is not any blood relation to him at all! The best was yet to come after a family friend saw the writing on the wall and brought Kilby to London to evade Archers vile mechanisms. Trying to uncover the mystery of her true parentage Kilby ended up having the elder Duke drop dead after he followed her up to her bedchamber. Later, Kilby would be introduced to the highly sexy, arrogant, and controlling new Duke of Solitea who felt she was experienced in the ways of love. Pierce capitalized on Fayne’s grief for his father who transferring that grief for revenge against the woman whom he felt had caused his father’s death. It wouldn’t be until later that while he pursued her for revenge -- he was actually beginning to care for her and desired her over all others. Pierce continues to keep the tension palatable and several mysteries ongoing with Kilby’s quest to discover her true parentage while never realizing a dangerous madman was stalking her; or that someone was out to hurt and/or kill Fayne. With a superb cast of secondary characters I am hoping that Pierce continues this series with some of Faynes friends; Ramscar, Everod, and Cadd who hold much promise as being as sinful as Fayne! This was a veritable roller-coaster ride with mysteries as well as some of the most delicious sensual encounters and wonderful love story that has been my pleasure to read this year! Oh, my goodness – fans of Pierce are in for a spicy and thrilling treat with twists and turns you will not see coming! This is one hotly sensual read I most assuredly recommend!!!
