Logan, Catherine, and Rhys have been in a ménage marriage for years. They
used to be happy, needing only each other to be content. Now Logan and Rhys
run a successful business together that keeps them both working hard, and
Cat rarely sees either of her husbands.
On the night of their anniversary, they not only stand her up for their
dinner celebration, but they cancel the vacation they had promised to take
with her the next day.
Hurt and at her wit’s end, Cat resolves to go on the trip alone, giving her
time and space to figure out the rest of her life and whether or not it will
include Logan and Rhys.
Returning home to find the woman they both love and take for granted
missing, Logan and Rhys realize their mistakes and are determined to repair
the damage and prove their love to Cat once more. But the road to happiness
is not without its potholes, and things will get worse before they can get
better…
I
have read Maya Banks’ STAY WITH ME twice now, and I cried both
times. This powerful story touched on a subject that I have wondered about
since I began reading ménage romance. What happens after the three ride off
happily into the sunset?
In Ms. Banks’ story STAY WITH ME, we find that these ménage
relationships are subject to the same pitfalls as a marriage between two
people, only with two husbands, it is even easier for each of the men to
shirk their responsibilities to their wife, assuming the other man will pick
up his slack ‘this time’.
Trying to be supportive of the men she loves and their business venture, Cat
has allowed herself to become a doormat, never complaining or protesting
when she is pushed aside time and again for business ‘emergencies’. By the
time the story begins, Cat is fed up, and realizes that nothing will improve
until she instigates that change herself. Not one to play the blame game,
she readily accepts her own guilt in the situation by not speaking up
sooner, but she is also no longer willing to participate in a relationship
that leaves her in the cold all too often.
Watching as the men work hard to regain her trust in them is emotional and
heartening. These men are not perfect, and they make plenty of mistakes
before they finally get it right, but Rhys and Logan always have the best of
intentions and their love for Cat is never in doubt.
STAY WITH ME is an emotionally charged romance story that
cannot fail to move even the most stoic of hearts.
