Brilliant defense attorney Pari Sisco has fought for respectability and love. Diagnosed with nymphomania while still in her early teens, she has often been a slave to her physical needs, even when it put her very life in danger.

When she meets Kitt Rogan, she finds what she never thought she would – love. But Kitt is in prison, arrested for a murder he didn’t commit, and it seems someone is pulling strings to make sure he is put away – for life.

Will Pari and Kitt be able to battle their demons and find a way to be together? Can they overcome Pari’s illness and Kitt’s enemies?

I have to say, the publisher’s blurb for Sweet Hell didn’t do it credit. While titillating, it presented this story as very one-dimensional, focusing on Pari’s illness, nymphomania. There is definitely a lot more to this story than the synopsis lets on. Sweet Hell was ripe with suspense, action, and scheming. Incorporating some paranormal elements with a crime drama (actually, there are two different crimes), and of course, a sensual romance.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, there were several times when I questioned the main characters’ motivations, especially Pari’s. Presented first as a strong woman who pulled herself out of the gutter to make something of herself, she has moments of startling weakness that don’t fit the picture we initially have of her. Perhaps the leading lady’s penchant for making detrimental life-altering snap decisions is a side-effect of her illness, but at times it was hard to suspend disbelief in this area.

Even so, Sweet Hell was a good read. I do look forward to other books by Audrey Godwin, whose writing style and imagination more than made up for the seeming lapses in character motivation.
