Listen to the storyteller’s tale and travel with me to a time long past where magic and fantasy ruled…

In the Faery realm, the seasons are controlled by a wheel that must turn for the seasons to change. When the Winter King stays the wheel, forcing the snow and ice to last, the Summer Queen is ready to start a war before the world dies. Astara is the Summer Queen’s daughter and she refuses to let the destruction of their kind come.

Astara goes on a long journey to beg the Winter King to allow spring to come and prevent the dreaded war. Only she can melt his icy heart, but will she be in time to save all she knows and loves?

As always, Sheri L McGathy has written an enchanting tale with The Birth of Spring. She paints a vivid masterpiece with her words. I felt as though I was transported to another realm where I felt the bite of the wind and the dampness of the snow. I truly felt as though I was sitting by a campfire listening to a minstrel of old. The idea of the seasons changing due to a spinning wheel is a compelling one and makes sense in the faery tale world.

Readers will love Astara and Yule, the Winter King. Astara is a tender-hearted and brave young woman, willing to sacrifice herself for the good of everyone else, if that’s what it takes to convince Yule to release the Wheel. He starts off as cold as the winter he controls, but we will understand what made him that way. There is even a bit of romance to be found. Readers will feel Yule’s heart melt for the beautiful Astara, and rejoice in the love that is found between the beloved couple.

In The Birth of Spring, Sheri L McGathy makes us believe, if only for a short while, that the magical realm of the Faery and the Wheel of the seasons really do exist. It truly is a magical journey, just like the one Astara undertakes.
