Georgiana Wilde has loved Quinn Fortesque since she was a young girl. Now, years later after a very brief marriage to Quinn’s cousin, she’ll have to face Quinn, the new Marquess, again—and she doesn’t know how she’ll manage. Quinn is wrestling with his own demons, and seeing Georgiana again only reminds him of a painful past. But there’s something about her radiant smile and her live-life-to-the-fullest attitude that tears down his emotional walls. And when he kisses her for the first time, he knows his life will never be the same. THE KISS is one of those books that keep you glued to the pages. Tortured characters, unrequited love, and Ms. Nash’s lush, evocative voice will transport you to Penrose manor where you’ll feel every heartbreak and hear every sigh of longing. Ms. Nash manages to make the old unrequited love theme fresh and interesting. My heart broke for Georgiana on more than one occasion. Ms. Nash’s unique characterization of her is compelling and complex, the kind of rich persona that lives on in readers’ hearts. In fact, Ms. Nash doesn’t skimp on any of the characterization. From Ata and the rest of the Widow’s Club, to Georgiana’s family and the entertaining Mr. Brown, Ms. Nash’s characters are real and delightful. For an extra treat, Ms. Nash also manages to turn the setting into a multifaceted character of its own with her beautifully penned descriptions of Loe Pool, the poignant glass house, Georgiana’s bee hives and treasured Falcons Mews. Ms. Nash, you’ve got me hooked! Though this is my first Sophia Nash book, it is destined to become one of many, as this author is now on my must read list. If you’re looking for a historical romance that goes far beyond the fluff of many regency romances these days, THE KISS is a highly recommended keeper.
