After three seasons twenty year old Grace Merridew has tried but not found love, at least not the kind of soul embracing love each of her older sisters have found. That being the case, she has set her heart on becoming an adventurer and world traveler. When Grace’s best friend Melly sends a plea for help after being forced by her father into traveling to and marrying a man he betrothed her to as a child, Grace postpones her trip to come to her aid. Posing as a maid, Grace travels with Melly to meet the big bad wolf, aka Dominic Wolfe, heir to Wolfestone Castle.  Only problem was Grace found that the Dominic, while not necessarily a bad wolf, was definitely attractive and the attraction was mutual!

*** Since reading this book by Anne Gracie, I now see what all the hullabaloo is all about concerning this author, and I am kicking myself for not having read her sooner! What a tremendously entertaining and well written book.  As Grace is the last of the Merridew sisters, and not having read the previous titles in this “Perfect” series I can certainly attest to the fact that THE PERFECT KISS is perfectly a  stand-alone.

Right from the very beginning I found myself wanting to champion young Grace as her hateful grandfather traumatized her when she was eight years old by telling her she killed her mama; as well as telling her she would never find love or happiness. This scene gave us motivation into why after three very popular seasons, Grace being not only an heiress as well as a beauty, had given up on finding someone to love.  Grace had really tried to fall in love and even kissed some of the nicer of her beaus to discover if they could make her feel the love she so badly wanted to experience. Dominic’s stolen kiss enticed and thrilled her but she found discouraging Dominic, a man betrothed to her very best friend, very painful knowing he belonged to another. His stolen kisses opened her eyes to the kind of sensual passion she’d dreamt and longed for all her life.

Dominic was divine (especially his name – which I love), strong, kind and honorable. He had an absolutely horrid childhood and the only reason he’d come to Wolfestone Castle was to thwart the devious plans his despised father had made for his future.  It was the first and last visit he ever planned to make to the castle. Being railroaded into a marriage arranged by his father was just another heartless manipulation he would have to overcome, but as fate would have it, without that last manipulation, he’d never have met Grace nor would he been able to set aside his plans for revenge and bring peace and harmony back to the villagers of Wolfestone. But love has a way and Ms. Gracie wove all the right elements together in giving this a special ending.

From the very first page to the last I was swept up in the romance and adventure. Filled with a bounty of wonderful secondary characters from timid Melly, the delightful Tickle sisters, Granny Wigmore, Frey, and  Dominic’s devoted servant Abdul, the reader will find themselves completely immersed.  One thing you certainly won’t want to miss is Grace’s visit to the harem!   The reader will also be introduced to characters from previous books in the series and if you’re meeting them for the first time like myself,  you’ll find yourself backtracking to read their stories.  All in all, this was an enthralling sensual romance that fulfilled all my expectations and more!
