Bluestocking is excited to arrive in the Kingdom of Whiterock. She has a once in a lifetime opportunity to translate the scrolls of Presimionari. But first, she has to learn how to navigate the politics of royalty, a task Bluestocking struggles mightily with. Deception is all around Bluestocking. Who is she to trust? And what choices will she makes when things go very wrong?

Colin Harvey transports readers to a fascinating world in which anything can, and often does, happen. The characters are multidimensional and the politics of the world quite intriguing. Bluestocking is one of the more unusual characters I have ever read about. Her determination to learn and to advance in life despite the risks is admirable, particularly in a world in which keeping one’s place is strongly, if not violently encouraged.

Readers should note that THE SILK PALACE features some mature and graphic scenes. The violence and sex are not gratuitous, however. Instead, the scenes help push the plot forward and add to the overall atmosphere of this harsh but very entertaining world.

THE SILK PALACE is a book that only improves with the turn of the page. Colin Harvey has a gift at drawing the reader into the heart of the story and seeing the true natures of the characters he creates. THE SILK PALACE is quite complex but the story flows so smoothly that it is only later one realizes just how intricate the storyline really is! Kudos to Colin Harvey on this captivating tale.
