Ms. Grady seamlessly weaves a poignant tale of past and present, drawing readers into the history of the Beck family and the intrigue surrounding Diablo Springs. Told in a blend of third person for the present sequences and first person for the past sequences, Ms. Grady brings the story to life, begging readers to taste, touch, hear, and feel, the tribulations the characters are going through.

This reviewer, who normally shies away from first person stories, was captivated by Ella Beck’s (Gracie’s ‘past’ counterpart) persona. Ms. Grady does a fabulous job of putting readers squarely into Ella’s head and showing us a world that is both harsh and beautiful at the same time.

Ms. Grady’s excellent plot will keep readers guessing until the final chapter. Reilly, Gracie and the secondary cast of eclectic characters are vividly drawn and they will propel you from beginning to end without stopping. With their heartfelt conflicts, and their tightly guarded secrets these characters will worm their way into your head and your heart.

Be prepared to pull an all-nighter, because you’ll want to read this book in one sitting! WHISPERS is a keeper. Plain and simple. Don’t let this one pass you by.
